Things Just Keep Getting Better

In addition to the numbers, her vision is coming back. At a recent check-up, her eye doctor was impressed with her improvements and said her prescription doesn’t need to be as strong anymore.

Her baseline mood is also much higher. She feels brighter, more vibrant, and more energized. She attributes this to the diet as well as the effects of doing something positive for herself and putting herself first. Taking care of her body via the Mastering Diabetes Method has helped to raise her self-esteem and confidence. It feels good to feel good!

Suzanne has loved seeing all the different ways that this lifestyle is having a positive effect on her health. The list just keeps growing!

The Diet That’s Not a Diet

When you think of a diet, most people think of restriction. If you’ve tried a diet before, you probably found yourself feeling hungry. That is one way that Suzanne emphases how different it feels to follow the Mastering Diabetes Method – she’s not going hungry! While this is a “diet” in terms of eating a specific way, it is not at all restrictive.

In fact, Suzanne says that this is the first time as an adult that she’s been able to lose weight without restricting her eating. Sometimes she can’t even finish the portion size allotted in the recipe!

“Two years ago, I never would have listened to me [talking the way I do now about this method]. I never would have seen myself eating nothing but plants,” she says.

Yet here she is, and she loves the food! Her favorite meals are a big fruit salad for breakfast, and the soup recipes. She’s been amazed by how good the recipes in the meal plan are, and she’s a particularly big fan of the Moroccan Lentil Soup. 

The Body’s Capacity to Heal

Suzanne brought up the idea that when you are eating a standard American diet, your body is continuously assaulted meal after meal, and it never has a chance to recover. When you are eating low-fat plant-based whole foods, however, your body does recover. Even more, your body gets to thrive. It’s amazing what happens when that happens. When given the chance to heal and thrive, the body will.

Suzanne is experiencing that firsthand, and she is amazed and inspired by what she has seen happen within her body. She’s become passionate about the body’s capacity to heal itself, given the right circumstances to do so.

The Journey Continues!

Although she’s come so far already, Suzanne says she is still “in process,” not yet in the “after.” She’s excited to keep going and see her body continue to improve as she continues following the Mastering Diabetes Method. She is excited to keep reaching new levels of how good she can feel.
