Ripe mamey sapote is a fiber-rich tropical fruit packed with vitamin-C and vitamin-B6 that grows abundantly year-round and tastes like pumpkin pie. One of the many fantastic smoothie ingredients, thanks to the creamy texture of the ripe fruit.
They mamey fruit (sometimes called "mame fruit", but typically referred to as "mamey fruit" in English) comes from the evergreen tropical tree of the same name, the mamey tree. With its origins in southern Mexico, Central America, and Cuba, this firm fruit is very popular internationally but have just recently started to gain traction in the U.S., and we couldn't be happier. They have a short shelf-life, but keep well in the freezer.
